Dr Belinda Hacking, consultant clinical psychologist and EC4H programme lead tutor, introduces the EC4H programme. She describes how this approach to teaching and learning clinical communication is delivered and some of the evidence base that supports it.

Effective communication is essential for patient care and good multi-disciplinary team work. High quality, peer learning workshops where professionals work together on communication challenges directly related to their own experiences in clinical practice, teaching and management provide an optimal learning environment that is both supportive and challenging.
