Sharing Bad News

This is a common and often challenging situation in our clinical practice with patients and families. Similar approaches are needed in education and management situations – for example when interviewing a poorly performing trainee or discussing a change to a consultant job plan.
Research from Dunn et al in Sydney, Australia offers valuable insights into the impact of different approaches to sharing bad news on the professional who is giving the news.
